Technology in healthcare is growing at rapid speed. This assignment verified this fact. It was interesting to read a case study of the implementation of an electronic medical record system in a family practice setting since I am in a similar setting in my job as an administrative assistant to Lancaster General's e-Health Team. This Team is working on implementing the inpatient electronic medical record system for the hospital.
In reviewing my classmates' article critiques I learned technology is in many, if not all, areas of healthcare. This fact alone makes it imperative that we confirm the knowledge presented electronically and analyze the sources are authentic. As technology moves forward in the care of patients, I believe the room for error will be decreased. Even though technology increases efficiency, safety and communication, I believe it is incapable of replacing the personal care human clinicians provide.
